I’m Nadia Tabbara, founder of FADE IN:. I’m a professional writer with more than a decade of experience in the field of Film & TV as well as literature and non-fiction. I started fadein because I believe in giving new writers the skills they need to be successful, but I quickly realized those skills are not just technical, they are creative. With more than 10 years of research, testing and creative coaching, I built a methodology that centers around building a writer’s natural creativity so that they can work with it and not against it. In this way, they can start and finish their projects, build a creative lifestyle and become the writers they want to be.
A little bit about my history: I’m a bi-lingual creator, screenwriter, storyteller, creativity coach, writing instructor, consultant, coffee-drinker and over-thinker. I am currently based in both Los Angeles and Beirut, working to diversify film and TV with Arab voices and Arab stories across the world. In my career, I have produced more than four successful regional TV series and my show ‘Awake’ is the only Lebanese series to be broadcast across all continents, most recently picked up by ARTE. I wrote and directed a fictionalized short film in the Internationally Emmy nominated series Beirut: 607. I also published a book on the creative process called “Harness Your Creativity” and I’m an editor and contributing writer of a collection of creative non-fiction stories about the Beirut explosion. When I’m not creating my own films and tv series, I’m mentoring writers across the Arab world so that they can find their voices and shine through their stories.

THE.METHOD.
Writing well takes much more than just learning the rules, it’s a journey into forging a lifestyle that nourishes creativity. Nadia’s methodology begins by centering a writer’s natural creativity, building the muscle they need to open up to their own ideas. Once writers are trained in creative skills, they move on to writing techniques and even after just one session, they are strong enough to go between their own imagination and the set of storytelling elements that are vital for the writing process. With this type of method, writers will be championing their own voices, rather than stifling them. Creativity will always come first, then technique will follow.
